North Construction & Building is seeking highly motivated candidates for a Commercial Construction Apprenticeship starting in January 2025.

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to kick start a your career in construction that could lead to becoming a leading hand, site supervisor, site manager or project manager.

Undertaking this trade apprenticeship, you would be coached and mentored in professional and personal growth in the building industry with the long-term objective ultimately to become a well-rounded builder.

You will be exposed to all aspects of the building industry including introduction to a variety of trades, learning various skills, communication and leadership techniques, working on the construction tasks, identifying quality issues, monitoring subcontractors’ activities, problem solving and managing quality and compliance processes in workmanship. You would also be working with the latest build technologies and contributing to the daily site activities for commercial structures and buildings.

What will you do:

provide support to site teams
monitor subcontractors
be on the tools when required
construction and rectification work
use project management software
be based onsite at various projects
general site housekeeping for safety
gain exposure to wide range of trade skills
assist with safety and quality monitoring
learn Australian Standards and codes of practice
developing negotiation and relationship building skills
work to a staged timeline programme and budgets
trained in all aspects of onsite building and construction processes.
developing effective engagement skills with sub-contractors, clients, regulators, managers, consultants, and suppliers.

What you will need:

Most importantly, you’ll need to understand that this apprenticeship is more than being on the tools all the time physically building. What we are aiming to do through this program is to grow you into a larger, more broadly experienced builder, that means doing a wide range of activities beyond hammer and nails. This will be different than how other apprenticeships happen.
