Organisational Profile

GEGAC is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation based on Gunaikurnai Country in Bairnsdale, Victoria. Consisting of about 160 staff, GEGAC is a Not for Profit organisation that delivers holistic services in the areas of Primary Health, Social Services, Elders & Disability and Early Childhood Education.

GEGAC is a child safe agency and has a zero tolerance of abuse or neglect of children and young people.

 

Position Purpose

The general cleaner is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of GEGAC buildings by performing various cleaning duties to a high standard.

 

Key Selection Criteria 

  • A sound knowledge of local Aboriginal culture and/or relevant experience working with Aboriginal people or Aboriginal organisations.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform duties that are physically energetic.
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships (internal and external)
  • Able to stay well organised, proactive and flexible to respond to diverse requests and duties.
  • Reliable, able to prioritise and work independently.

 

Qualifications and Registrations Requirement (Essential or Desirable).

 

  • A person of Aboriginal / Torres Strait Islander background   ESSENTIAL (This is identified as Special Measure position.)
  • Driver licence ESSENTIAL
  • An understanding of Health and Safety procedures relevant to the job, including first aid, safe use of machinery, working outdoors, using a ladder, working alone, lifting, manual handling.   ESSENTIAL
  • Recent experience in a cleaning role DESIRABLE
  • A satisfactory Working with Children Check and Fit2Work Police Check ESSENTIAL
     
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccinated to align with GEGAC requirements ESSENTIAL
