Position Overview

As a Chef at Canberra Bar & Grill, you will have the opportunity to showcase your culinary skills and creativity. You will be an integral part of our team, contributing to menu development and ensuring the highest standards of food preparation and presentation.

This is a full-time position with an annual salary of $73,500 plus superannuation.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a wide range of dishes, ensuring quality and consistency
• Collaborate with the team to develop and refine menu items
• Oversee daily food preparation and kitchen operations
• Manage inventory, order supplies, and maintain cost control
• Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations
• Train and mentor kitchen staff to maintain high standards
• Conduct quality checks on ingredients and finished dishes
• Monitor portion sizes, waste management, and stock control
• Communicate effectively with management and front-of-house staff

Qualifications and Skills

• Proven experience as a Chef in a similar role, with at least 2 years of experience
• Expertise in preparing sauces and dishes from scratch
• Strong knowledge of international cuisine, with a focus on grills and seafood
• Experience with vegetarian and vegan dishes is highly desirable
• Culinary qualifications in cookery or hospitality
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
• Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team
