The Role

We are seeking a skilled Plasterer/Painter with experience in insurance assessment work to join our growing team. In this dual-role position, you will be responsible for both high-quality plastering and painting work while also having the expertise to assess damage, scope required repairs, and communicate effectively with insurance representatives and property owners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform professional plastering and painting services to repair damaged properties

  • Assess property damage and prepare detailed scope of works for insurance claims

  • Create accurate quotes and estimates for repair work

  • Document damage through detailed reports and photographs

  • Liaise with insurance adjusters, clients, and other contractors

  • Ensure all work meets building codes, industry standards, and insurance requirements

  • Complete jobs within agreed timeframes and budgets

  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment and adhere to all OH&S guidelines

  • Provide exceptional customer service to often stressed property owners

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in plastering and painting trades

  • Proven experience working on insurance claim repairs

  • Strong understanding of insurance assessment processes

  • Valid trade qualifications/certifications

  • Knowledge of current building codes and standards

  • Excellent attention to detail and quality workmanship

  • Strong communication and customer service skills

  • Ability to document damage clearly and prepare detailed reports

  • Current driver's license and reliable vehicle

  • Own tools and equipment

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with water and fire damage restoration

  • Understanding of moisture detection and remediation techniques

  • Understanding of tropical North Queensland building challenges and solutions

  • Experience using job management software

  • Knowledge of insurance claim procedures and terminology
