Head Baker

Elka is a new bakery, specialising in sourdough breads and pastries. The business will be opening four new sites within three months, with the main location to be in Heidelberg, and distribution to the other locations to occur from here.

As the head baker, you will work directly with the management, in leading the direction of the business.  You will lead the bakery team in the planning, preparation and baking of all breads. 

Qualifications & experience

• 2 years+ experience in bakery production including mixing and baking and be prepared to work to a high standard

• A strong understanding of bread production and sourdough breads

• Excellent team worker with strong leadership and communication skills

• Strong organizational and time management skills

• Excellent food hygiene standards

Tasks & responsibilities

• Assisting in the production and prep for the next day ahead

• Maintaining freshness and stock level of goods

• Upholding cleanliness of your section

• Following production schedules and procedures

• Stock control

• Adhering to budget targets

• Preparation and rotation of ingredients for daily production

• Other general duties as required such as cleaning

• The work involve early morning starts and availability to work a seven days rotating roster.
