We are looking for a skilled Maintenance Fitter to join our team, providing vital support on afternoon shift.

In this dynamic role, you will play a key part in maintaining the smooth operation of our fast-paced manufacturing facility. Each day will bring new challenges, from performing preventative maintenance and swiftly resolving issues to driving optimal equipment performance.

As the sole Maintenance Fitter on the afternoon shift, you’ll take ownership of maintenance activities during 1pm to 9pm, ensuring seamless production and equipment reliability.

 

You will be responsible for

  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on high-speed packaging machinery to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues quickly and effectively, ensuring minimal disruption to production.
  • Conduct repairs and modifications to equipment and machinery, utilizing both mechanical and technical expertise.
  • Collaborate with the production team to identify potential mechanical issues and recommend improvements or preventive measures.
  • Monitor equipment performance and proactively address any emerging issues to prevent breakdowns.
  • Assist in the installation and commissioning of new machinery or upgrades to existing systems.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work performed, parts used, and machine performance.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and operational guidelines, promoting a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, identifying areas for efficiency gains and machinery optimization.
  • Assist with emergency breakdowns, ensuring quick resolution and minimal impact on production schedules.

 

On day one you’ll have

  • Tertiary or trade qualifications in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with a strong foundation in maintenance practices.
  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Fitter, preferably in FMCG or pharmaceutical industry, where precision and efficiency are paramount.
  • Demonstrated hands-on expertise with high-speed packaging machinery, showcasing your ability to maintain and optimize complex systems.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, with a proactive mindset that enables you to anticipate challenges and implement effective solutions quickly.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team environment, fostering a culture of teamwork and shared responsibility.
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring compliance with safety standards and operational procedures.
  • Adaptability and resilience in a fast-paced setting, with a willingness to embrace new challenges and learn continuously.
