The Opportunity

Did you have a knack for welding and metalwork during school, or maybe you like spending your free time building and creating projects with your hands? If you think you’re up for a challenge and a job with variety, then a Boilermaker Apprenticeship could be what you’re after!

Undertaking this four-year Apprenticeship will give you the opportunity to become a qualified Boilermaker and earn your MEM31922 Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication (boiler making/welding).

This position is full-time and based in Larapinta to be hosted by Shephard Transport Equipment.

Job Details

The Shephard Transport Equipment workshop position is located in Larapinta, Brisbane where you will be hosted with a company that has more than 40 years’ experience fabricating, manufacturing, servicing and repairing truck bodies and trailers.

You will be mentored by industry professionals while completing a blend of on-the-job training and theory coursework.

Your duties will include, but is not limited to:

• Learning to weld, fabricate, cut, shape, heat, working with varies forms of metal, assemble and repair truck bodies/trailers

About You

The successful candidate will have great mechanical aptitude, a genuine passion for boiler making, be able work in a hot environment, possess good communication skills, have a can-do attitude and be safety conscious.

You will need to be good at retaining information and must be reliable. You will need to be willing to work overtime on occasion - and be able to start work at 5am and available to work on Saturday if required. This is a good opportunity to earn and learn more.

In addition to these qualities, you will:

• Have completed a minimum of year 10 with good results in English and Mathematics
• Have a driver's licence
• Certificate II in Engineering an advantage
• Be safety-minded
• Be well presented
• Have excellent listening skills and able to follow instructions
• Work safely
• Have the ability to pass a Medical, Drug and Alcohol, and Police Check
