About the Role

As a Security Patrol Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining a strong security presence for a premier A-grade commercial building based in Melbourne CBD. This role involves regular foot patrols monitoring access points, identifying potential risks, responding to incidents, and supporting emergency procedures. You will interact with tenants, visitors, and contractors, always ensuring the safety and security of the premises.

 

Key Responsibilities

As a Patrol Officer your core duties will include:

• Conduct regular and random foot patrols across various buildings and common areas to identify and respond to security or safety concerns.

• Monitor and control access points, ensuring only authorised personnel are permitted into secure or restricted areas.

• Respond promptly to incidents and emergencies, including alarms, evacuations, and first aid situations, in line with site protocols.

• Where required, operate and monitor surveillance systems (CCTV), assisting with investigations and incident documentation.

• Deliver a visible and professional security presence, offering support and assistance to tenants and visitors.

• Perform Chief Warden or emergency warden duties during evacuations or emergency situations.

• Maintain accurate written and electronic records of incidents, patrols, and daily activities.

• Enforce building rules and procedures and monitor for anti-social behaviour or unauthorised activity.

• Assist in conflict resolution and manage incidents using appropriate de-escalation techniques.

• Conduct routine safety checks and report hazards in accordance with health and safety protocols.


Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

• Current VIC Private Security Individual Licence (Required)

• Current First Aid and CPR certifications (Required)

• Working with Children Check (Required)

• Police Check (Required)

• Current First Aid & CPR certification.

• Proven experience conducting foot patrols and responding to on-site incidents.

• Strong understanding of security procedures, access control, and emergency response protocols.

• High level of physical fitness and stamina – must be able to undertake extended foot patrols across multiple buildings.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with tenants, visitors, and colleagues

• Confident in managing high-pressure situations and responding calmly and effectively during incidents.

• Basic computer literacy for reporting, log entries, and incident documentation.

• Experience using radios, electronic reporting systems, and CCTV monitoring platforms (desirable).

• A strong commitment to safety, situational awareness, and always maintaining professional conduct.
