The Opportunity - 

Novaskill is currently partnered with a well-established local nursery to offer a Horticulture Traineeship, including training & ongoing mentoring from a welcoming team there to support your career building.

We're looking for those looking to start their traineeship!

You'll be completing a nationally recognised Certificate III in Horticulture whilst gaining experience & developing relationships in the Lawn and Maintenance Industry.

 

 Learnings - 

  • Propagate and grow your own plants

  • Maintain gardens and landscapes

  • Safely use garden chemicals keeping environmental and sustainability guidelines in mind

  • Plan and implement programs for pest and disease control, plant nutrition and soil improvement

  • Apply specialist amenity pruning techniques

  • Recognise common and exotic plant species

 

Outcomes – 

  • Techniques to look after your own garden

  • An understanding of what it's like to work in the horticulture industry

  • The skills and confidence to seek employment in the horticulture industry

  • A strong pathway to continue your study and enhance your career opportunities 

 

Apprenticeship Suitability Recommendations – 
To succeed in this apprenticeship, we recommend you have – 

  • Good hand-eye coordination and the ability to use hand tools

  • An interest in the horticulture industry

  • A basic level of physical fitness

  • Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) at a Year 10 high school level

  • Ability to work well as part of a team

  • Commitment to safety   

 

About You -

  • A keen interest in plants, the natural environment and science

  • A willingness to work hard

  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Feel strongly about working outdoors

  • Drivers Licence & Reliable Transport is a must
